After a fifteen-year career as a graphic designer and information technology professional, I have returned to school to pursue my dreams. The economy has claimed many victims. I was lucky that I could see it coming. I made the choice to return to school in order to stabilize my future. Recently accepted into the nursing program at Treasure Valley Community College, my long-term goal is to become a family nurse practitioner (FNP). Also having recently been hired as an Emergency Room Technician, I am gaining practical experience while attending school. I came from a rough background. Like so many other non-traditional students, I never felt I was "good enough" nor was I encouraged by school administrators to pursue my academic goals. Let me serve as an example for those of you in a similar situation, you can do it! We really can accomplish anything we set our minds to. Do not accept "NO" as an answer. As cheesy as it sounds, "where there is a will, there is a way!" I am proud to have been elected as your Regional President for the Rocky Mountain-Cascade Region. We are a part of something so much larger than each one of us as individuals. We truly have a measurable impact on the world around us. I am making it my mission to fill others with the same enthusiasm I feel for Phi Theta Kappa. |

Who is Ana Tift? I was born in Puerto Rico in a small town called Salinas in 1970. I am kind, hard working, dedicated, enthusiastic, and I am a go-getter. I was raised in the "Projects" of New York City, NY and Bridgeport, Conn. I was surrounded by violence and drugs, which was normal for me, growing up in an environment that was for low-income families. Survival was the name of the game. Growing up in an environment where there was neither hope nor faith that the children of the Projects would get out. We were, as they would say, "stuck." What stuck to me the most was the word "stuck"–another statistic. As time went by, I attended Henry Foss High School and graduated in ’88. That’s when I realized that I was the first granddaughter and great, great granddaughter to finish high school on both sides of the family line. I did not want to be "stuck." I continued into the dental field for 4 years, and since then I have given myself to the love of the health care field where I was for 14 years as an anesthesia tech and a central processing tech. I love to serve the community and to be able to help others in this world. I want to be able to bring in much love for all diversities from the near and the far and share it within Phi Theta Kappa. During this all I am a single mother of a teenager, and I do it all. Time management plays a role in my everyday life. I made a choice to continue my education and to break the cycle of the stereotype of the "Project" girl. My goal is to receive my masters in science and get into the Register Nurse (RN) program at Mt. Hood Community College. I have decided to excel and achieve my dream in becoming a Physician Assistant (P.A) in specializing in open-heart surgery. Then I would like to follow and be able to attend an excitant college for the duration of my dream: to be a Physician Assistant. I want to let the world know that education is very important and when you put your mind into it anything is possible. Si Se Puede. I have had the privilege to be a member of Rainbows and be able to raise $2,000 for Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital for open heart. I also have been giving back to the community by being a mentor for Park Rose High School with the Aspire team. Where these children may not have support or faith, I have been able to open their eyes to reach a goal to attend college–I did. I have volunteered for a fundraiser for domestic violence cell phone drive so that woman can call 911 to feel safe. Academically, I made it onto the Deans Honor Roll for Mt. Hood Community College. I am the Public Relations Officer for the Rho Theta Chapter with Mt. Hood Community College. I have been with this institute for one year and a half. I love the campus, the students, and even the staff. When It comes to projects for school and home, I start them and I see them though to the end. Working with the community I am very enthused–I commit to all of my projects and follow them though. I am so proud to have been selected for outstanding positions with the Rocky Mountain Cascade Region to represent you as the Northern Regional Officer. Phi Theta Kappa Is so full of love and diversity. I am honored to represent all the students of the northern region. |

I am an actual, dyed-in-the-wool native Oregonian. I was raised on a farm and practically lived on horses while I was growing up. I am married and living the Brady Bunch. I have two sons, my husband four, so together; we have raised six boys, two of which are still at home. I barely graduated from high school. I had no faith in my abilities as a student, so I worked a series of jobs including truck driving, Hynix, Wal-Mart, Golden Temple, data entry, customer service, cooking, and as a general farm hand. I have always wanted to do more with my life, professionally, but my fear of school held me back. Being laid off from Hynix forced me to face my fears and I am now enrolled in the Administrative Assistant’s degree program at Lane Community College. I am excited by the future, and delighted to be a member of Phi Theta Kappa. I am a little bit in awe of the idea of being a Regional Officer, but, I work hard, and I finish what I start, and I will do my best to serve the Rocky Mountain Cascades Region to the very best of my ability. |

This is my first year as regional coordinator for the region, and I am looking forward to training and supporting the team to be as effective as possible with all the chapters in the region. As a native Oregonian from Coos County and someone who now lives in Lane County, I understand the diverse needs of the students in the region. Teaching was not my first career choice, but I have found my place in life—I love what I do. Currently I teach business and leadership courses at Lane Community College in Eugene. I am available to meet with college presidents and chapter advisors to help you learn how Phi Theta Kappa can enrich students' lives. I also have many different workshops and trainings that I could bring to your campuses. |
