Rocky Mountain Cascade Region

Running for a Regional or International Officer Position

The opportunity to lead the region or the division will help develop your leadership skills, and it is one of the benefits of being an active Phi Theta Kappa member. Regional officers are elected at the Regional Convention in the spring, and candidates should start planning by early spring. International Officers are elected at the International Convention in April, and the application process begins in October.

The advantages of becoming a regional or international officer are listed below. Dee Lauzon, 2008-09 International President Pro Tempore and 2007-08 Regional Southern VP has answered some questions about her experiences. There are also some photos of some regional and international officers.

International Officers

There are five international officer positions: International President, Division I Vice President, Division II Vice President, Division III Vice President and Division IV Vice President. These officers preside at the International Honors Institute in June and the International Convention the following April. During the academic year, international officers attend regional meetings and conventions where they promote Phi Theta Kappa programs, present speeches, and assist the region. International Officers play key roles in the communication networks within their regions.
